More about the Retreat

Many people subject their bodies to harmful lifestyles and diets that inhibit the body's ability to cleanse and heal. Eating a poor diet of processed foods clogs up the digestive system with waste materials and prevents our bodies from absorbing vital nutrients, which can lead to health problems over time. Fasting allows an incredibly effective cleansing process to take place in the body that reaches down to each and every cell and tissue. All your organs receive a well-deserved rest and a much-needed clear out. After 24 hours of not eating, the energy used for digestion is redirected towards clearing out waste matter, dead and damaged cells, gas, microbes, parasites and other toxins from your system. Without the chemical interference of stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, sugar and alcohol, your body is able to find a better natural balance.

A professional nutritional adviser will support you throughout the fasting process and optional one-to-one nutritional consultations will also be available for anyone wanting to go into more depth regarding their personal health story. During the fast you will consume organic fruit and vegetable juices, barley grass, vegetable broth and mineral supplements to provide you with the nutrients you need to nurture your body, as well as detoxifying herbs that will aid in the cleansing process. Psyllium husks will provide cleansing bulk and help stave off physical hunger. Self-administered organic coffee enemas are done once daily to help the body to eliminate toxins. Twice daily yoga are complemented by fun and informative classes on nutrition and healthy eating, sustainable living, meditation and happiness. (Fasting is not safe for people who are very underweight, clinically obese, pregnant, diabetic, suffering from kidney disease or certain cancers. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your health that you would like to discuss further before arrival).

More About our Yoga Teacher

Uma is a Yoga Therapist, a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and an Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Therapist.  Her journey into Yoga and Tantra was set in motion in her late teens while experiencing persistent bouts of anxiety and depression along with gastric distress, addiction, and a constant feeling of being stuck in an existential crisis. Yoga was her way of feeling better and she would regularly attend a variety of yoga classes, as well as practicing at home from books.

Uma then spent the best of five years in India and with the help of her teachers and much dedication to learning and practice, she recovered her mental and physical health and began to experience ever evolving levels of vitality and clarity through the practice of Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda. She found her true passion and purpose - to share in Yoga as a way of life that allows for meaningful transformation.  She believes that through yogic practices one can bridge deeper levels of consciousness, empowering one’s own healing and clarity of perception.  Uma believes that we all have a deep capacity to heal and transform not only ourselves, but the entire collective.
