More about the Retreat

Many people subject their bodies to harmful lifestyles and diets that inhibit the body's ability to cleanse and heal. Eating a poor diet of processed foods clogs up the digestive system with waste materials and prevents our bodies from absorbing vital nutrients, which can lead to health problems over time. Fasting allows an incredibly effective cleansing process to take place in the body that reaches down to each and every cell and tissue. All your organs receive a well-deserved rest and a much-needed clear out. After 24 hours of not eating, the energy used for digestion is redirected towards clearing out waste matter, dead and damaged cells, gas, microbes, parasites and other toxins from your system. Without the chemical interference of stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, sugar and alcohol, your body is able to find a better natural balance.

A professional nutritional adviser will support you throughout the fasting process and optional one-to-one nutritional consultations will also be available for anyone wanting to go into more depth regarding their personal health story. During the fast you will consume organic fruit and vegetable juices, barley grass, vegetable broth and mineral supplements to provide you with the nutrients you need to nurture your body, as well as detoxifying herbs that will aid in the cleansing process. Psyllium husks will provide cleansing bulk and help stave off physical hunger. Self-administered organic coffee enemas are done once daily to help the body to eliminate toxins. Twice daily yoga are complemented by fun and informative classes on nutrition and healthy eating, sustainable living, meditation and happiness. (Fasting is not safe for people who are very underweight, clinically obese, pregnant, diabetic, suffering from kidney disease or certain cancers. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your health that you would like to discuss further before arrival).

More About our Yoga Teacher

Bruni Maslen is a yoga teacher, eurythmist, massage therapist and international Spa trainer based in Bath. Her life's mission is exploring the vitality or life force which lives in each of us and how to keep it healthy and abundant. She does not teach one particular style of yoga as she believes there are many ways to practice and each has its beauty and place. Her main focus during a class is to guide each participant to a silent place where the mind slows down and the senses awaken to connect with the here and now. When the body, mind and breath move together, deep physiological changes take place. The organs start to work more efficiently, muscles relax, the nervous system calms down, the heart opens and a deep sense of peace develops.

Bruni believes that yoga is not about doing and achieving. It is about undoing, letting go, releasing, allowing, opening, and softening where movement becomes meditation. We direct our attention inwards, experience every breath, every movement, every thought, and every emotion. We challenge and stretch. We meet our limitations. We observe what arises without competition, expectation or judgment. We let go of the urge to achieve. We stop holding on and we open ourselves to the present moment. We feel more vibrant and we experience a sense of lightness. As one of Bruni's student puts it: "It feels as if the whole body is smiling."

In a deep state of relaxation we experience yoga, which can be translated as: "I like myself the way I am." We can then take this memory into our daily lives with a renewed sense of vitality, confidence and focus.

Special guest on this retreat

Amanda Montague, also know as the Wild Tea Lady, has been foraging since childhood in Sussex where gathering wild herbs and food was a part of family life. She likes to bring a sense of wonder and gratitude into discovering the abundance we can find locally in our natural environment. Wild tea making opens many discussions about childhood, ancient remembering, health and wellbeing, self care and the importance of good knowledge for safe foraging. And of course tasting all of the teas at the end will allow the experience to settle into the bones and senses. The importance of sustainability and sensitivity whilst gathering will also be emphasized and you will learn to develop a new relationship with nature that will be infused with love and appreciation.
